From Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 February 2019, the Kick-off CUDIMHA Consortium meeting was held at Monastir University Campus in Monastir, Tunisia. “Curriculum Development: An Innovative Master In History and Archaeology” (CUDIMHA) is a European project funded within the Erasmus+ Programme aiming at addressing the challenges faced by Tunisia in its path towards modernisation by bringing innovation in higher education system and institutions, new teaching methodologies and multidisciplinary contents, thus providing students and staff with new competences in the humanities field.
. A 2-year Master’s Programme (4 semesters), focused on the valorisation of history and archaeology, has been designed among the consortium partners, with special interest and important contributions coming from the Tunisian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) involved. The project consortium represents a selection of both EU and Tunisian HEIs having expertise in the relevant project field, which are: Università degli Studi del Molise (IT), Masaryk University (CZ), Fondazione FORMIT (IT), University of Sfax (TN), University of Carthage (TN), University of Gabès (TN), University of Monastir (TN), Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma (IT), University of Alicante (ES).
The kick-off meeting was structured in a meeting spread into three days. It was a valuable opportunity for the consortium members to get acquainted and strengthen existing partnerships. The main tasks and objectives of the project as well as how to develop a strategy to support the continuous involvement of all partners were extensively discussed. Furthermore, a special moment was organised via WebEx Platform with the EACEA’s appointed Project Officer in order to discuss some administrative and managerial aspects related to financial reporting and resource allocation. At the end of the meeting, European partners were invited by the hosts of the meeting to visit the archaeological site of El Jem, located in the nearby town of Mahdia, to have the opportunity to admire one of the most renowned jewels of Tunisia’s historical heritage, which constitutes the central focus of the project.
